Teens rescued after bee attack in Peoria

by Associated Press (January 27th, 2012 @ 8:38am)

PEORIA, Ariz. -- A swarm of bees covered and repeatedly stung four teenagers on their heads, faces and arms outside a Peoria business. Authorities tell KTVK-TV that a 5-year-old was among the victims.

The bees made a hive in a nearby irrigation box and firefighters say the teens lifted the lid to the box and that's when the swarm attacked. The bees chased the teens about a quarter of a mile down a street Thursday afternoon until the victims ran into a nearby business for safety.

The victims were transported to a local hospital for what are described as non-life threatening injuries. Crews used foam to calm down the angry bees.
