With the NBA trade deadline less than two weeks away, Steve Nash hopes the Suns keep the team intact.
"We've shown that we're a good team," Nash said after practice Sunday. "I think we've shown glimpses we can be a really good team, and it would be nice to continue to work at it together."
The Suns are currently fifth in the Western Conference, a game back of Dallas but tied in the win column with 31 victories. They are also a-game-and-a-half away from missing the playoffs altogether.
Should Nash, as a captain and leader of the team, be asked his opinion before a deal is made?
"You know, I don't think they need to," Nash said. "I think it's up to them. If they want to that's fine. If they don't want to that's also fine."
Nash said he knows any moves the team makes are out of his control, so he doesn't worry much about what might happen.
"In life I always try to worry about the things I can control," Nash said. "Coming to work being ready to play, and being a good teammate is kind of the focus."
Head coach Alvin Gentry was less forthcoming with an opinion, saying he has his hands full without worrying about the team's future.
"I have enough problems just trying to get us to play well."
