Tax season extra kind this year

PHOENIX - Uncle Sam is being extra kind this tax season.

Bill Brunson with the IRS says an expanded earned income tax credit means larger families will qualify for a larger credit.

"The maximum amount of the earned income tax credit, the $5,657, is available to individuals who filed jointly and have three or more qualifying children," he said.

The good news doesn't stop there.

"If you file in other statuses, with or without qualifying children, you still could qualify for the earned income tax credit, it would just be at smaller amounts."
