Legislators Return to Capitol After Bomb Scare

Two unexpected packages that arrived at the state House of Representatives triggered an evacuation at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday and the arrival of the bomb squad.
"The Arizona House was evacuated as a precaution based on recommendation from House Security after an unexpected package was received," said House Spokesman Barrett Markson.
One package was addressed to lawmaker Kyrsten Sinema, who has been the target of recent e-mails advocating sexual violence over her proposal to declare groups like the Minutemen as domestic terrorists.
Itt turns out four legislators have received similar packages.
"Ben Miranda, Adam Driggs, Kyrsten Sinema (and) Eddie Farnsworth," said Marson.
He said the packages were sent by a man in Casa Grande.
Alan Ecker with the Arizona Department of Administration said the evacuation ended 30 minutes later and people were allowed back into the building.
"DPS bomb squad at the time declared the building cleared and the suspicious package turned out to be a box of brochures," Ecker said.
The House of Representatives reopened a half hour later after DPS determined the package contained court documents and was not a threat.
Marson said authorities don't believe the man is a threat.
