by KTAR Newsroom (September 4th, 2007 @ 9:30pm)
PHOENIX - FM News/Talk 92.3 KTAR is pleased to announce that local icon and legendary broadcaster Pat McMahon has been named Director of Public Affairs for KTAR.
McMahon has been a major part of KTAR Radio for more than 25 years. He is the station's most well known personality after hosting "The Pat McMahon Show" on radio and television for decades, his role in the hugely successful Phoenix television program Wallace and Ladmo, and his deep involvement in the Valley for years.
"I don't know of any Phoenix broadcast personality that is better connected to, or more passionate about, this area than Pat McMahon," said Erik Hellum, Vice President and Market Manager for Bonneville Phoenix.
"Pat has already been one of our leaders in connecting with the community for many years, and we are now expanding that role. Nearly two years ago, we asked Pat to return to the airwaves full-time to help KTAR strengthen its relationship with Valley listeners. Now, he will champion our major outreach initiatives and charitable efforts." "Whatever the need is, whether it's anti-graffiti efforts or donating significant money to the reward fund for the capture of serial killers, KTAR is always the first to ask how it can help," said Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon.
"We can do more," said McMahon. "KTAR has benefited from a unique and personal relationship with this community for generations. We are positioned to give back. I'm looking forward to making sure we do that for the greatest possible benefit." McMahon's voice will continue to be heard regularly on KTAR-FM. His daily commentary airs every morning and he hosts the weekly programs: The McMahon Group and The God Show. McMahon will also host special programs on KTAR-FM focusing on the vital issues affecting our community.
