TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe police say their "Back to School" alcohol crackdown led to nearly 200 arrests.

Tempe PD and Arizona State University police targeted 13 apartment complexes near campus.

Police deployed uniformed and plain clothes officers at each complex specifically to conduct liquor enforcement on three consecutive Fridays and Saturdays beginning Aug. 20th and concluding Sept. 4th.

The six night campaign led to a total of 185 arrests, 163 of which were alcohol related.

Police departments say robberies, assaults and public disorder typically increase during this time of year and are often linked to alcohol abuse.

The laws restricting the consumption of alcohol to those 21 and over are stupid as are the idiots that made those laws. If you are old enough to carry a weapon in combat, you're old enough to have a beer. So lower the drinking age or raise the military induction age. In fact, keep everyone a minor until age 21. Yeah that works -- not!

for many incoming freshmen. Wonder why? In a previous article, students indicated one positive aspect of these living quarters on campus was having access to tutors. Perhaps, if one would take higher education seriously, the need for tutors would be unnecessary. The fellows are lucky in that they don't have the fear/ concern of the military draft hanging over them.

We gotta teach these low life's, disguised as college students trying to get an education and make something of themselves. We need to ruin there futures now before they make it through college and become successful. It's really funny how some people act on this issue. Raising the drinking age and making it illegal to partake in activities that are legal, as long as you are old enough. You just ruined almost 200 kids futures because of these stupid laws.

ANY arrest for either DUI or public drunkeness should come with an automatic expulsion from ASU. No appeals; no second chances.
