PHOENIX - The date is January 15th, 2010. It's the middle of the afternoon rush hour, 5 o'clock. A 25-year-old mother of 4 young children is found dead along the side of the road.

Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch says Jessica Enriquez was shot by 29th Street and Moreland, near the Loop 202.

"We know that she was shot to death, and it's unknown if she was shot there at the scene," Burch said.

"This location on Moreland is on the south side of the freeway, so it's a residential area, somewhat secluded because of the freeway," Burch explained. "You really only had that one side of the roadway for any kind of witnesses and unfortunately there are no witnesses."

Jessica Enriquez's uncle, James, describes her as loveable, helpful and generous - the kind of woman who'd give her last dollar to a homeless person. In fact, she was on her way to the library to get a book for her mom when she was murdered.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Jessica attended North High School. She liked to do arts and crafts with her kids, 3 sons and one daughter. James says her family adored her and Sgt. Burch saw evidence of that.

"In fact, I went there to talk with the neighbors, and so forth, and there was a memorial there right there on the side of the road with a teddy bear and different things you could tell were close to her," Burch said. "So she was definitely well-liked and loved."

Anyone with information is asked to call (480) WITNESS.
